Parks and Recreation (TV Show Review)

A seven season long legacy that started some huge careers and some flopping ones. Starring Golden Globe and Emmy Award winner Amy Poehler (Inside Out, Mean Girls), Nick Offerman (Fargo, Hotel Transylvania 2), Aubrey Plaza (Monsters University, Scott Pilgrim VS The World), Chris Pratt (Magnificent 7, Jurassic World, Guardians of the Galaxy), and Aziz Ansari (Epic, Ice Age: Continental Drift), this has a brilliantly hilarious cast and a consistently funny story. I loved this show but if you are looking for quality and artistically impressive, this would not be the way to go. It also has an incredibly convenient episode length of 20 minutes, meaning you can watch an episode and not feel like you have taken too much time out of your day doing something unproductive.

In the small town of Pawnee, Indiana Leslie Knope (Poehler), and ever positive and dedicated worker for the Parks and Recreation department of town government attempts to become mayor of the town and motivate her team.

In season 2, Leslie refers to Eagleton as 2 towns over. Later in the show there is revealed to be a Pawnee-Eagleton border, meaning that the towns are in fact next to each other.

Artistic Impression: 🌟🌟⭐️

  1. Ron’s (Offerman) second ex-wife Tammy-2 is acted by Megan Mullally (Will and Grace, Bee Movie). She is actually married to Offerman in real life.
  2. The writers didn’t know Nick Offerman could already play the saxophone when they made his character, Ron Swanson, a secret saxophone player.
  3. Chris Pratt, who plays Andy, was such a good physical comedian that frequently the writers would just write “Andy does something physical” into the script, trusting he would come up with something in the moment.
  4. Adam Scott (Ben Wyatt), Kathryn Hahn (Jennifer), Paul Rudd (Bobby Newport), and Rashida Jones (Anne Perkins) all starred in the movie ‘Our Idiot Brother’ together.
  5. Many comedy stars cameo including Andy Samberg (Brooklyn 99, Hotel Transylvania), Peter Serafinowicz (Guardians of the Galaxy, Shaun of the Dead), Sean Hayes (Will and Grace, Bucket List). The show also cameos Karen Mullally (Will and Grace, Bee Movie), Paul Rudd (Ant-Man, Sausage Party), Will Arnett (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, The Lego Movie), Kristen Bell (The Good Place, Frozen), J.K. Simmons (Whiplash, Juno), Keegan Michael-Key  (Keanu, Key and Peele), and (though not comedians) Heidi Klum, Ginuwine, Joe Biden, John McCain, and Michele Obama!
